Brandon Daniels

Dr. Brandon D. Daniels currently serves as the Performance Management Officer at the Department of General Services (DGS) with the District of Columbia Government. As Performance Management Officer, Dr. Daniels leads the performance management, process improvement and data management efforts for the agency. This work leads to detailed analysis that produces recommendations to drive improvements in performance management as a result of project work, collection and dissemination of data. Before coming to DGS, he served in the Office of Performance Management, in the Executive Office of the Mayor. Dr. Daniels advised the Chief Performance Officer on the effectiveness of existing District Government performance management initiatives, infrastructure, programs, and policy and recommended improvement based on the research of best practices and national standards and advises on cost-effectiveness and risks.
Dr. Daniels also serves as a Professional Lecturer in Program Evaluation, at the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies. He currently teaching courses in Program Planning, Analysis and Evaluation. He also was recently selected to serve on the American Association of the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS), Science and Technology Policy – Executive Branch, Fellowship Selection Committee.
Before working in DC Government, Dr. Daniels also served as Associate Director for Policy Research and Strategy, at the American Council on Education, Director of Special Programs at the Association of Governing Boards for Universities and Colleges, and as an Education Research Analyst in the Strategic Planning Group of U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE). Dr. Daniels also taught at American University as a Professional Lecturer in Education, teaching Graduate courses in Program Evaluation, Research Methods and Quantitative Assessment. Dr. Daniels’ research has been published in peer-review educational journals; and he has managed funded Arthur Vining Davis Foundations and Kresge Foundation grant projects.
In his spare time, Dr. Daniels is an avid cook and wine enthusiast – and his currently completing his Level 3 Award in Wine from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and Certified Specialist of Wine from the Society of Wine Educators.
Dr. Daniels earned his BA in English – Technical Communication from the University of North Texas; his M.S. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The Florida State University; and his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from The University of Wisconsin – Madison.
